The Reiki Council And Registration Pros And Cons

As individual who has sat on the then Reiki Regulatory Working Group in the UK, now noted as the Reiki Council, I am delighted to see how seriously Reiki is being taken in the UK now. Of course, there are many that do not realise the benefits. However, at the end of the day, it is about choice. A Reiki Healer can choose to be formally recognised or choose not to. It is always good to have choices.

The process took about 12 years in total. And it was worth it. After all the work so many dedicated people and associations have put in to develop these professional standards for Reiki, and to help make the Reiki Register happen, There is now movement forwards.

First of all, it is now easier, though not easy, for Reiki to have a place in the NHS and private medical insurance schemes. The NHS is now look ways to give a holistic approach to medicine, one that involves Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM).

Secondly, about half-way through the process, not even when it was finished, I as a Reiki Practitioner started to get more enquiries and more clients for Reiki sessions. I am sure that others who were also professional and ran their private practice as a proper business also saw this increase in clients and benefited from it. More importantly, the clients benefited from it. These are clients who would not see any un-approved practician or try someaffair not tried, tested, and approved. And why should they? It is good to approach any new modality with some healthy scepticism. After all, the world abounds with charlatans and snake-oil salespeople.

Some Reiki Practitioners individualally do not feel that this will come to much. They see the whole affair yet other hoop they are forced to jump through. They may also argue that there are too many biases in the NHS and private medical establishments towards medication, slash, burn, and inject. However, CAM is being integrated into the Western Medicine model, and although the ingestion is slow, it is happening.

However, let us look at Reiki registration from a different angle. Not that of contingent an employer, but that of running a self-employed Reiki practice. In any business, run properly, ethically, and honestly, there is paperwork, there are professional fees, and there are professional standards. My own feeling is that anyone not benefiting as a practician simply necessarily to study more business and marketing courses. Then they can apply their knowledge and possibly have many happy clients that they on a regular basis serve proudly and joy.

Let us not depend on our Medical friends to give us jobs. Let us spread therapeutic and help clients now for the Highest Good. And when the NHS offers you a job, then you can have a choice whether to take it or to keep your private practice open. To re-iterate, it is always good to have choices.
